Reaching Out To Serve Others

Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus Council 764

Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus Council 764 Ladies Auxiliary

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul brings hope to those in need through food, clothing, and other support. Vincentians personally deliver items to families each week, serving all races, creeds, and ethnicities. If you would like to be a St. Vincent de Paul volunteer or donate to the food pantry, please see the bulletin for details.

The St. Vincent de Paul Annual Food Drive continues to stock the items needed to supply needy families with holiday meals as well as staple items for the pantry. Please bring your donations to the cart or wagon in the church vestibule next weekend if possible, but no later than Nov. 17. If you did not get a bag, the list of needed items includes the following: canned fruit, canned corn, canned peas, rice, canned yams, cake mix, frosting, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, canned tuna or chicken, spaghetti sauce, baked beans or pork n beans, hamburger helper, boxed mac and cheese.

HOLY SPIRIT HAITI MISSION

Holy Spirit Haiti Mission is a life giving effort by many from Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL as well as many others who volunteer their time, resources and efforts in order to help those in need in the country of Haiti. Our focus includes but is not limited to orphanage support, education, clean water initiatives, and seeking islands of economic opportunity to help Haitians “learn to fish”. We are people from all walks of life who share a common bond of God and helping others. Thank you for visiting and we hope that you can find ways to help the Haitian people through our ministry.

KAIROS

Kairos is a ministry of the church, a ministry of the apostles whom Jesus has called into community and sent forth into the environment of the correctional institution. Kairos has been called the best example of the early church in existence today. It is a ministry which our parish has been involved in for many years. Each Kairos weekend allows Christians to serve as advocates for Christ (not advocates for the inmates) and to show those who have committed crimes that God loves them (as he loves us all) despite what they have done. We participate in Kairos weekends because Jesus commanded us to: For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me. Mt 25: 35-36.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels delivers well rounded, nutritious lunches to those in need. Meals on Wheels serves Huntsville seniors age 60 or over, who are unable to cook for themselves, have no one available to cook for them, and are primarily homebound. If you or someone you know is in need of this service, please contact  256-382-0920.

We are in need of Volunteers. The Holy Spirit Meals on Wheels Volunteers pick up lunches at the Huntsville Senior Center, which is located on the corner of Drake and Ivey, at 10:45 am the second Friday of each month. The delivery route takes up to 1 1/2 hours.

If you would like to volunteer with the Holy Spirit Meals on Wheels route, please call the church office at (256)881-4781 or email hschurch@holyspirithsv.com with your name and contact information.
