Sacrament Preparation
“And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” – Luke 24:27
Sacrament Preparation (First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation)
First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
-
- During 2nd grade, baptized children are prepared for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The Eucharist is the “source and summit” of our Catholic life, and this sacramental preparation is both joyful and solemn.
- First Reconciliation is celebrated in Advent, and First Holy Communion Mass during Eastertide. See here for the religious education calendar.
- In addition to attending weekly Sunday catechesis, those preparing for sacraments will also attend a family retreat. For information on the Family First Holy Communion Retreat, click here.
Confirmation
- Children entering 8th grade catechesis will be prepared for the sacrament of Confirmation. Through the lens of the Church and her mission, the Confirmation candidates will delve into God’s plan of salvation and Christ’s invitation to them through the Church. Confirmation candidates will deepen their prayer life, select a confirmation saint name, and discern their talents through service hours.
- In addition to attending weekly catechesis, Confirmation candidates are expected to participate in monthly Encounter nights. Parents are strongly encouraged to support and participate in Encounter!
