Sacraments
We nourish, embrace, sustain and celebrate the gift of faith through the Sacraments.
BAPTISM
Deacon Lee Heckman offers Baptism Preparation Classes at Holy Spirit. Please check the bulletin for dates and times or call Deacon Heckman at 256.714.7027 to sign up for a class. Godparents are also welcome to attend this class. Please keep in mind that your child should have a Christian name for Baptism.
FIRST RECONCILIATION and HOLY COMMUNION
First Reconciliation and Communion are made during the second-grade year for our students. Please remember to sign your children up for Religious Education each year.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation Classes are held on Wednesday evenings. Classes begin in August each year.
HOLY MATRIMONY
Congratulations on your engagement! Please contact our priests at least six months prior to your chosen wedding day. Father will guide you through marriage preparation. Also, visit the website for Engaged Encounter for a list of available retreat dates. https://birminghamcee.org/.
Holy Spirit’s wedding coordinator, Mary Walker, is happy to help you with the big day. After you meet with father, schedule a time to meet with Mary to begin planning. (256)881-4781.
HOLY ORDERS
God calls each of us to a particular vocation in life. A call to ordained priesthood, or religious life is a calling to serve God and his people. Please join us in praying for more vocations. Is God calling you? https://www.birminghamvocations.com/
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
There is a comforting grace that comes with this sacrament. If you or your loved one would like to receive the anointing of the sick, please call the Church office. If there is a Sacramental Emergency after office hours, please call the priest’s emergency phone number: Pastor 256-883-4359 or Associate Pastor 256-882-1132
Each year Holy Spirit offers two Anointing Masses: one during Advent and the other during Lent.
