CRHP (pronounced “chirp”) is a spiritual renewal weekend
designed to help individuals grow in their personal relationship with
Jesus Christ and with others in the Holy Spirit parish community.

Is the Holy Spirit calling you?

What is CRHP?
Christ Renews His Parish is a personal and parish spiritual renewal process that will change your life in ways that you can not even imagine.

Is this process sanctioned by the Catholic church?
This program was specifically developed for use in Catholic Parishes and has been recommended by the renewal office of the Council of Catholic Bishops.

Is anyone else using this process?
The CRHP process has been used in over 1263 Parishes, in 99 diocese, in 36 states in the US and in 5 other countries since 1969.  95% of Parishes who have started CRHP are still using the process today.  Holy Spirit was the first Parish in the diocese of Birmingham and the first Parish in the state of Alabama to embrace the CRHP process!

How do I participate?
Attend one of either the Men’s or Women’s retreats; one of each will be offered every six months.

Who gives the retreat?
The retreats are given by a team of parishioners from Holy Spirit Parish with assistance from the clergy for the celebration of Mass and the administration of sacraments.

Who can attend a CRHP weekend?
Any parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish who is 18 or older, regardless of where you are in your faith journey.

How much does it cost to attend the retreat?
Nothing but a weekend.  The retreat is a generous gift from the Parish and friends of CRHP!

Where will the retreat be held?
The entire weekend will be hosted right here, on the Holy Spirit Parish campus.  Air mattresses, retreat materials, meals, and snacks will be provided.

What is the Focus of CRHP?

EUCHARIST As the center of community
GOD’S WORD As the fountain of community
RECONCILIATION As the healing of community
SHARED FAITH AND PRAYER As the Spirit’s Presence in community
DISCIPLESHIP As the call and consequence of community
SHARED MINISTRY As the witness of a serving and loving community

What topics will be covered at the retreat?
The team will share their faith life and witness to their experience with the Lord in the areas of: Renewal, New Life in Christ, Spirituality, Christian Community, Christian Awareness, Reconciliation, Eucharist, Scripture, Father’s Loving Care for us, and Discipleship.

Is the retreat format structured like a class with a lot of lectures?
No.  The methods used by the team to give the retreat include small group participation, team witnessing and sharing rather than teaching and discussion.  There are exercises in group process and community building, along with dialog and sharing, stimulated in a very liturgical, scriptural, and prayerful atmosphere.

How many people can go on a retreat?
There are spots for at least 20 retreatants.

What will I gain from attending a retreat?
The benefits you will receive from attending a CHRP weekend are incredible, but hard to put into words.  You will find, though, that it is the gift that keeps on giving.  Here are just a few of the perks… a break from your hectic life, a true encounter with the Holy Spirit, friendship with new brothers and sisters in Christ, a deeper level of faith and spirituality, a renewed sense of purpose, reconciliation and healing, and affirmation that you are loved and called by God.

What can I do to support this ministry?
PRAY!  Pray for our retreat teams, pray for the retreatants, and pray for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit!  You can also make donations of time or treasure… blow up air mattresses, donate snacks, prepare or serve a meal; invite those who the Spirit calls you to come to a weekend, or go on a weekend yourself!
