Children’s Liturgy of the Word

During the 9 O’clock Mass on Sundays, we offer children their own age appropriate “Liturgy of the Word“. Teachers take children, ages 3 through completed 2nd grade, to the rooms off of the sacristy to read the First and Second Readings as well as the Gospel. They then complete an activity that helps the children to understand the Gospel message. The children return to the church at the end of the Liturgy of the Word to join their parents.

We are always in need of adults who would like to volunteer to help with this ministry. We provide help for you to plan your 20 minute lesson. We have enough adults working in this ministry that each person need only teach once per month.

All volunteers who work with children in our Diocese are required to take the class entitled “Youth Protection 1 for Adults”. This class is offered by our Diocese throughout the year. To view the schedule of these classes throughout the Diocese, go to Click on the Child and Youth Protection Information link at the top of the list. Then click the Schedule of Youth Protection Training link at the bottom of the list.
